'IT'S NOT POLITICS AS USUAL.' In 2004, after an election bogged down by partisan bickering and uninspiring rhetoric, a few students on a few different campuses across the country realized that something needed to be done to combat the disillusionment of young progressives. We'd put our boots on the ground, we'd knocked on doors, we'd held signs, we'd given what little money we had, but our ideas were still absent from the political process. We envisioned a movement where young people could fill the critical ideas gap in communities across the country, generating new solutions for current problems. In doing so, a new generation of progressives could burst forth on the nation's political stage.
ITS DEMOCRACY BEYOND THE VOTING BOOTH. Knowledge begets power. We know that we have to engage, train, and support a new cadre of leaders to truly achieve out vision for a new kind of democratic participation. To that end, we've built the trainings and platforms to truly support our membership's bottom-up and ideas-driven approach to progressive change. And we always, always kick the process here.
2014 10 Ideas
We're excited to share the launch of the 2014 10 Ideas Series.
Now in its sixth year, the 10 Ideas series promotes the most promising student-generated ideas from across our network. Each year students from across our 115 chapter strong network submit to our journals resulting in, after several rigorous rounds of edits, the top 60 ideas being published. This year’s journals stand as a testament to the depth and breadth of these student ideas.
Entries in 10 Ideas are selected for publication on the basis that they are smart, rigorously researched, and feasible. Simply put, they’re darn good ideas.
